Adrianna Banducci-Karp

Adrianna joined the Sanyal lab in 2021 as a DPhil student funded by the MRC and the Pathology Department. She is currently focusing on the antiviral properties of lipid droplets. Adrianna graduated from Imperial College London with a BSc in Biochemistry in 2021. As part of her degree, she completed a year of research in the Meijer lab at Leiden University researching innate host defence against Mycobacterium marinum (2019-2020). Adrianna also completed a placement at Imperial College in the Edwards lab to understand the causes of antibiotic treatment failure (Summer 2019). Funded by the Lister Institute, she then joined the Mostowy lab at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to investigate if changes in bacterial cell shape trigger cell-autonomous immunity (Summer 2021). Adrianna’s main research interest is centred on host defence and how to use this understanding to enable the development of novel host-directed therapeutics.
