I obtained my PhD in Microbiology at Stellenbosch University working on nanofiber drug delivery systems for treating topical bacterial infections. I did a postdoc at Stellenbosch University where I used mass spectrometry-based proteomics to characterise strain-specific features in the proteomes of clinical Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates and to study host-M. tuberculosis interactions. Subsequently, I joined the Trost lab at Newcastle University as postdoc to work on ubiquitylation and macrophage biology using discovery and targeted MS-based proteomics approaches. In March 2021, I joined the Carvalho and Sanyal labs as a joint postdoc to support their proteomics research efforts. My research interests include infection biology, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and data science.
